Description

What a great Christmas gift! Something that not many people have! Check the internet and you will find that with the cost of the crayfish and shipping, it would cost just under $50. I just want my crays to have great homes! The Electric Blue Crayfish makes a great addition to any freshwater aquarium. They are much more enjoyable to watch, and much more active than most fish I have owned. They like to pick through tank gravel getting all the food that falls down there. They therefore help to keep the bottom of you tank clean. Cray fish molt so what an exciting time, when I first got my blues I thought the little things had died, only to discover with joy a more gorgeous blue crayfish had emerged, bigger and more beautiful than before. My crayfish Mother and Father pictured below were imported directly from the Florida Everglades. My babies were born approx. Oct 8th as this is when Mom began releasing them. The general life span for the Procambarus Alleni Electric Blue Crayfish is up to 5 years with proper care. These crayfish like to burrow and hide, so providing caves, or rocks in their tank allows them to be more comfortable. They need a water temperature ranging from 65 F – 75 F. Here in Arizona, I don't even use heaters for my crays and they eat crushed flake food and also really enjoy sinking algae wafers. These Electric Blue Crayfish are native to the Florida Everglades. The reason for their blue pigmentation is that they lack a gene that would give them the more “normal” brown coloration. They will remain blue all their life; the exact shade of blue may vary from one crayfish to the next. I also have white babies and my crayfish do well with other tropical community fish of equal size. You do not want to put crayfish in with large, aggressive fish. They can be eaten, especially when they moult, and are more fragile. These are not lobsters. Crayfish belong in freshwater.
Size of these babies: 1-3"
