Acrobat READER is a free program but if you want to CREATE Portable Document (PDF) files then you have to have this program (or a clone). Once you install it, producing PDF files is as simple as printing what you need in the PDF files. (Acrobat makes a "PDF" printer appear in your list of printers. Printing to it creates the PDF file.)

As you can see from the picture, this is an original CD with a product key (in back).
