SCENE STUDY MASTER CLASS
Guest Instructor - Jared Sakren
Jared Sakren, Artistic Director of Southwest Shakespeare Company and Founding Artistic Director of Shakespeare Sedona, will conduct a six-week acting workshop at Matlin Studio for Valley actors starting Saturday, October 31, 2009.
The class is designed to address the needs of acting for the stage and meeting the most demanding challenges of acting in general, with a specific focus on acting in two-person scenes. The workshop will focus on all basic aspects of acting, including personalization and structuring of action, subtext vs. text, improvisational techniques, character development, and discovering personal acting resources. This particular workshop will address the demands and challenges of scene work.
Jared has taught at many of the nation's most prestigious actor-training programs including at The Juilliard School, the Yale School of Drama, American Conservatory Theatre, the North Carolina School of the Arts, CalArts, William Esper Studios in New York, and in England at Oxford University and in Australia at the National Institute for Dramatic Art, and at many theatres including The Guthrie Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, The Old Globe Theatre, and The Alabama Shakespeare Festival. Jared is a graduate of Juilliard, a founding member of John Houseman's The Acting Company, and has performed on Broadway and in National Tours.
